“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”Matthew 5:4 KJV

“And his three friends…lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. Grief with hope

The promise of comfort

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”Revelation 21:4 KJV

A short word

The Bible does not hurry the grieving. It gives them words (the lament psalms), company (Job’s friends in their best moment), and a long horizon (the resurrection). The God of all comfort sits with the broken in their darkness and promises the morning.
